Dear Diary

Motherhood is just an increasingly difficult gameshow…

Dear Diary

I am a mum of one, a wife, a daughter and more importantly exhausted. If you are like me and find that you sometimes have no one to share the never-ending exhaustion that is a mother, wife or daughter then please read on and share your feelings if you so wish.

My daughter is 15 months old and it is so tiring. I have come to the conclusion that being a mother is like being on a game show that gets increasingly harder. The first stage is how can we keep alive a small vulnerable being while having next to no sleep?

Then it progresses to still no sleep, but now the vulnerable being moves and constantly puts themselves in danger rendering you unable to do many of the mountainous chores that accumulate because you turn around and there about to hurt themselves again.

I made this point to my mother and her words were, that the teenager stage is no better, because that seems to be when the psychological stage of the game show comes more into play, where they starve you of love and constantly drain your purse.

It’s been hot today. About 28C and I was half asleep on the couch as I was continually clubbed over the head by some toy. The combination of that and the heat has finished me and yet when I can finally rest I find I cannot sleep, I’m hungry.

Yours sincerely

The tired mum.
